Scope and Content Elevation of Pollokshaws Clock-tower, City of Glasgow Pollokshaws Clock-tower is the surviving part of the town hall. This was built by the 'Community or Common Council', a body of subscribers who acted as a council before the town became a burgh, The keystone of the now-blocked ground-floor window bears the date 1803. Original narrow windows were widened for the clock faces, probably in the 19th century. The belfry and spire may date to this period. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
