Scope and Content Elevation of Inverkeithing Town-house, Fife Inverkeithing Town-house evolved piece-meal from a much earlier tolbooth. In 1754 the old steeple had to be replaced before it collapsed. Then in 1768 the town council decided to replace the main block, which was also falling down. The burgh arms are displayed on the pediment on the south face of the steeple. The right-hand doorway marks where a pend led through to the rear of the building. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
