Scope and Content South frontage of Preston Lodge, Cupar, Fife Preston Lodge was begun in around 1623 by James Williamson and Isabel Heggie. It was bought by James Preston of Denbrae in 1690 and extended to the north. In about 1765, the whole building was remodelled for William Paston, a goldsmith from London. This is the original part of the house. The Georgian remodelling reduced the effect of the corner-towers and probably removed the moulded stone ride, or string-course, running across the front of the main block.
