Scope and Content Grave of Diarmid, stone circle, Perth and Kinross Situated on the top of a glacial moraine 550m south-east of Old Spittal farmhouse and commanding extensive views down Glenshee are the remains of a four-poster stone circle reputed to be the grave of Diarmid. The monument comprises four stones set at the corners of a trapezium and although excavated in 1894, no finds or structural features were discovered. A stone circle with four upright stones is known as a four-poster stone circle. Often located on a mound or terrace, four-poster stone circles vary in size and shape, and can be found in several areas of Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
