Scope and Content Gun-loops in north side of Fairburn Tower, near Muir of Ord, Highland Fairburn Tower, a simple tower-house, was built in the 1540s for Murdoch Mackenzie who had been granted the estate on condition he built a house there. This shows the impressive array of gun-loops on the lower part of the north side of the tower-house. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
