Catalogue Number PT 1489

Scope and Content Old Mains of Rattray, laird's house, Perth and Kinross Located beside a farm track 550m west-north-west of Mains of Rattray steading, are the remains of a late 17th-century laird's house. Originally two storeys and an attic in height, the house is now a roofless ruin. The weathered lintel over the entrance, as seen here, bears the name and arms of David Crichton, along with the date 1694. The house was probably built in 1694 but was remodelled and extended in 1720 and again in about 1800. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
