Scope and Content Plan of a ring-cairn at Balnabroich, Perth and Kinross Extensive remains of settlement and ritual activity are preserved on the moors to the north-east of Stylemouth farmstead. At least four burial cairns and a stone circle lie amongst the numerous hut-circles and small cairns. Roughly circular on plan, this small ring-cairn measures about 6.5m in diameter, standing 0.3m in height. The cairn is badly preserved as a result of excavations in 1865. John Stuart, a noted 19th-century antiquary known today for his drawings of carved stones, conducted a brief excavation here in 1865. Stuart found fragments of charred wood near the centre, together with burned bones near the circle's southern margin. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
