Scope and Content Symbol stone known as Inverurie 1 at Inverurie, Aberdeenshire This symbol stone is at Inverurie. In was found built into the walls of a churchyard along with three other symbol stones. All four are now in the cemetery at the Bass of Inverurie. They are to along to the left of the gate. This is a view of the stone. There are four symbols carved on it, though only one is complete. There is a crescent and V-rod over a mirror-case at one end. At the other are incomplete examples of a double-disc and Z-rod and a serpent and Z-rod. The two pairs of symbols are upside down in relation to each other. This suggests that the symbol stone was reused with one set of symbols being carved at a later date. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
