Scope and Content Mr Bruce Maxwell, Clock Winder, explains the resetting of the Alyth Turret Clock. Every March and October the winter and summertime settings need adjustment (0:08). The bell is disconnected as the linkage goes round and the clock workings start moving. If the bell is not disconnected, it would chime at the wrong time. The clock is wound forward an hour for Spring using the lever. For winter time it is wound forward not quite an hour, and wait until the 'real' time catches up.
