Scope and Content Interior. Blacksmith, Inaclete Road, Stornoway, Lewis. Blacksmith shaping red-hot peat cutter head on a vice, then transferring to the anvil. The Blacksmith then returns the peat cutter to the forge to reheat for further shaping. When completed this peat cutter head will be attached to a wooden shaft. Such blacksmiths shops or smithies or smiddys were once commonplace. They made and repaired agricultural tools, did farrier work (shoeing of horses) and repaired lorries.
