Scope and Content Process: Casting Iron, preparing the mould box for part of a bowl casting to be replaced on Ross Fountain, Waverley Gardens, Edinburgh at the Haigh Foundry near Wigan, Lancashire.Electrical induction cauldron, removal of slag with bit of wood from cauldron.Innoculator added to grey iron during pouring into crucible. The inncolulator is a silicon powder added to stop the molten metal from cooling too fast and binds slag (flashing) together. The flashing is removed. The crucuble is then moved to the moulds.
