Scope and Content This illustration, based on DC 57748, was produced in advance of the 'Unlocking the Tower' event held by Scotland's Urban Past on 06 May 2017. It records the wider area surrounding the tower, including the footings of St John the Baptist' s Church as exposed, consolidated and reconstructed after excavations between 1985-7. The tentative dashed projection of the church plan was based on information from 'Excavations in Ayr 1984-1987' (2012).
