Scope and Content This is a view of 111 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh. This area has been completely redeveloped during the early 21st century with the building of the Scottish Parliament at the eastern end of Holyrood Road and Canongate, and subsequent associated infilling of gap sites created following demolition of various breweries along Holyrood Road. This restaurant occupies the former clock tower which stood within the former Scottish & Newcastle's Holyrood Brewery which had closed and lain empty since the late 1980s. The majority of the brewery site was demolished in 1995, but this clock tower was retained for re-use within the overall masterplan for the Holyrood area. The clock tower was refurbished in 2003-5 by Allan Murray Architects, who also developed The Tun on the adjacent site. This retained the crenellated parapet within the stone frontage, and the part-brick side elevations. A glazed entrance porch has been added to bring the building into the newly-created piazza which leads onto the pavement.
