Description View of 12, 14 and 16 Castle Street, Port Bannatyne, Bute, from SE, also including two-storeyed terrace at 10 Castle Street, Port Bannatyne, Bute, to E

Catalogue Number DP 098932

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Late 19th/early 20th century, four-storeyed sandstone tenement, with dormers to attic at 12 Castle Street. Effectively three blocks with full-height bay windows to outer bays, and double windows above central entrances. This tenement is unusual for the Port Bannatyne Area of Townscape Character due to its scale, and particularly as it faces inland rather than taking advantage of the views to the bay above the lower reaches of Port Bannatyne. It is in sharp contrast to the two- and three-storeyed terraced houses which surround it, such as the refurbished 10 Castle Street adjacent (right).
