Scope and Content Fortlet at Lurg Moor, Inverclyde The fortlet at Lurg Moor was one of a series built to defend the W flank of the Antonine frontier along the S Clyde coast. This is the best preserved of the known sites. This plan of the fortlet shows its rectangular outline. It consists of a rampart and outer ditch. The only entrance is on the S side. Leading from this are the remains of a causeway, probably heading to the next station. Although the site has not been excavated, sherds, including a pot of 2nd century AD date, have been found.
