Scope and Content Rossdhu House, Luss The area of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park contains a rich variety of archaeological sites and historic landscapes, which continue to have a major impact on the environment today. Rossdhu House, on the west shore of Loch Lomond, was built in 1772-3 for Sir James Colquhoun of Luss, and the policies around it were remodelled in the early 19th century. Both house and policies have now been redeveloped as the Loch Lomond Golf Club. During the Improvement Period (c.1750-1850) many landowners rebuilt their houses on a grand scale and established extensive policies around them. Today, many of these houses and their policies have been converted to more public recreational uses. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
