Scope and Content Interior of east end of chapel at Kilmory Knap, Argyll and Bute This medieval chapel was probably built in the early 13th century. It is mentioned as a dependency of the parish church of Knapdale at Keills, in the second half of the 13th century, the revenues of both being granted to Kilwinning Abbey. In 1934 the chapel was restored by the Office of Works and given a glass canopy to protect the Early Christian and medieval stones displayed within. Many of their original positions in the chapel and churchyard are unknown. In the centre are the two windows of the east wall which preserve most of their original sandstone dressings. To the right of the round-headed windows is a simple aumbry, which would have been used to store the vessels used for communion. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
