Scope and Content Settlement at Gruting School, West Mainland, Shetland The settlement at Gruting School is built on the hillside. It consists of two oval houses and some small cairns made up from stones cleared from the fields. One of the houses is cut in two by the road and there was a third, now under the school's garage. This is an aerial view of the site. There were three houses. There were also a number of clearance cairns. In the top corner, the structure though to be a temple, at Stanydale, can be seen.
