Scope and Content Temporary camp at Lochmaben, Dumfries and Galloway The Roman temporary camp at Lochmaben was discovered by aerial survey in 1967. Nothing of the camp remains on the ground, but it can be seen as a series of cropmarks in aerial photographs such as this one. Two sides of the camp and an angle can be made out near the middle of the image. The camp was built on a low hill between the now drained Halleaths Loch to the N and Castle Loch to the S.
