Scope and Content Fortlet at Kirkton, Livingston, Midlothian This Roman fortlet is at Kirkton. It is on the right bank of the River Almond, immediately opposite the old village of Livingston. This is a small fortlet, and there are no known Roman roads in the area. This is an aerial view of the site. The faint cropmarks in the image show the rounded SE corner of the fortlet and short sections of the sides. It was enclosed by a single ditch. This site was discovered through an aerial survey by the RCAHMS. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
