Scope and Content Cairn at Strontoiller, Lorn, Argyll and Bute This cairn is one of three monuments standing close together in Glen Lonan. Tradition has it that together with the standing stone Clach na Carraig it marks the grave of the Irish hero Diarmid. The third monument is a stone circle. This is a view of the cairn during excavation. The kerb of granite boulders can be clearly seen. The cairn was excavated in 1967. A small amount of cremated bone was recovered along with some quartz pebbles from around the kerb. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
