Scope and Content The collection comprises photographic copies of drawings in the Edinburgh City Architect's Department including: designs for Calton Jail and Bridewell, Edinburgh, by John Baxter 1791; designs for alterations by Thomas Brown 1829; and designs for Jedburgh Jail, Roxburghshire, by Archibald Elliot 1820. NMRS Jubilee Guide, 1991.

Archive History Survey of drawings held in Edinburgh City Architect's Department and copied by RCAHMS in 1971. The original drawings of Calton Jail were deposited with RCAHMS in 1986. Original reference: YDA/2327/1-9 Previously catalogued as Collection 262/261.
