Scope and Content Fort at Edinshall, Scottish Borders This fort is built above Whiteadder Water at Edinshall. In the late 18th century the site was known as Wooden's Hall (or Castle) after Woden or Odin. It has also been linked to the folktale of Red Etin. A later broch has been built inside the fort. This is an aerial view of the fort. There have been several phases of occupation, but the earliest is represented by the oval enclosure of double ramparts and ditches. A roughly rectangular enclosure around the broch may represent the last phase of use. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
