Scope and Content Way has been in Northumberland visiting Edward Charlton. Way has been appointed to direct excavations and survey at Alnwick Castle. Copies of Petrie's papers on the 'Girth House' and Maes Howe have been sent. Asks about the date of the Earl's Bu at Orphir. 9. 16 July 1863. Encourages Petrie to send a communication for the Rochester meeting. His paper on Picts Houses will be published shortly. Refers to death of Henry Rhind. 10. 2 Jan 1865. Asks for information about Orkney knitted goods, and about stone artefacts. 11. 23 Feb 1865. On Orkney knits and cup-and-ring marks. 12. 1 May 1865. On Shetland knits. 13. 27 Dec 1866. From Tunbridge Wells. Refers to cup-and-ring marks.
