Scope and Content Mr Rae of Wick mentioned that he had seen Petrie in Kirkwall and that latter was willing to give Calder information about the history of Caithness. Has included extract from a Petrie article in his book. Particularly needs information about the 'celebrated Pirate' [John Gow] and the 1529 expedition to Orkney of John, Earl of Caithness. Refers to own book on Shapinsay.
