Scope and Content Requests information about skeletons from chambered tomb in Burray reported in 'The Builder', and asks If Petrie could send him 'a portion of the crania' in order to compare them with those Farrer had sent him from the Knowe of Saverough in 1862. Would also like to have one or two of the dog's skulls. Encloses a paper on the Wayland's Smithy long barrow. 2. 28 April 1863. Thanks Petrie for his letter of 18 April and for the skulls, though regrets that skulls have been washed. Asks if Petrie thinks that all the 'Picts Houses' are tombs. Asks whether Petrie has a plan of the Knowe of Saverough. Refers to Orkney custom concerning death of infants.
