Scope and Content Leather-bound notebook belonging to Thomas Johnston, donated by his grand-daughter Caroline M Jones, 114 Tavistock St, Bedford. 100 pages paginated by a later hand, two of which are loose. Titled, probably by William Johnston, as 'Antiquarian Researches by the late Thomas Johnston'. Begins with methodological notes and continues with site notes and a few sketches (stone circle at Auchencairn, Roman camp at Amisfield, fort at Castle Hill, cairn at Galloberry, two stone circles at Knowe Buckle, cairn at Braehead, site of chapel at Dalswinton etc - most cannot be matched in database apart from those entered below).
