Scope and Content Notebook containing handwritten notes on structural remains and history, with a few traced drawings, mainly on the subject of duns and duns in the Outer Hebrides, especially Dun Carloway and Dun Bhragair (Lewis). Includes copies of a long letters from A Carmichael about sites in Benbecula and N Uist. Drawings and notes on the East Broch of Burray and the broch at Hoxa, S Ronaldsay (Orkney). Also notes taken from Ferguson's 'Rude Stone Monuments' on labour involved in building monuments, and notes on Hook Tower, Waterford, from Grose' 'Antiquities of Ireland', with traced drawings. Also notes from Martin Martin on forts in the W Isles. Interleaved is a letter to Capt Thomas from Rev Duncan Graham of The Manse, Kilbrandon, Oban, dated 10 May 1872, on Argull forts including Dunadd.
