Scope and Content This oblique aerial view from the south-west of the rig and enclosures to the north of Ashentrool reveals a complexity of agricultural remains that is typical of many of the hillsides in Menstrie Glen. This probably reflects repeated cycles of activity over many years, rather than any major changes inland-use, although in this case the stone march-dykes constructed in the 1760s can be seen cutting indiscriminately across the earlier enclosures. The large turf building in the centre has a sunken interior and is possibly the remains of a sheep-house.
