Description Oblique aerial view.

Collection RCAHMS Aerial Photography

Catalogue Number SC 541182

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of A 72445

Scope and Content Cultalonie, hut-circles, buildings and field-system, Perth and Kinross On an east-facing terrace on the north side of the Allt Cul na Coille, there are the remains of nine prehistoric hut-circles and a field-system. A further eleven buildings and structures have been found in the area. The remains of one of the hut-circles is clearly visible in the centre of this aerial photograph, along with a rectangular-shaped and oval building. The whole area is littered with small cairns and stony banks from the field-system. In north-east Perth, field-survey and aerial photography have identified extensive settlement remains in areas rarely occupied today. Excavation in this area suggests that the settlement remains date from prehistory through to the 13th century AD. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
