Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Dalineun, Lorn, Argyll This chambered cairn is at Dalineun, Lorn and is sometimes referred to as Loch Nell South. The mound contained both a Clyde type chamber and a large cist, buried in a pit at the entrance. This probably had to do with ceremonial activities. This is a plan showing the layout of the cairn. The main chamber was a simple Clyde type formed out of six overlapping stone slabs. The large cist was buried in a pit in front of the chamber after the cairn was completed. There is a 2nd cist to the rear. Finds from the site include sherds of neolithic pottery, three Beakers and a Food Vessel. The cist in front of the chamber contained gravel and the cremated bones of an adult and child along with animal bones such as pig phalanges. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
