Scope and Content Burgh bell inside Banff Town-house, Aberdeenshire Banff Town-house accommodated the town and county councils. The steeple replaced a dangerous one demolished in 1762. The main building replaced the old 16th-century tolbooth which was also demolished in 1794. The local MP donated 100 guineas to the cost. The burgh bell and clock were probably both ordered from London in 1767. The bell is inscribed. LESTER AND PACK LONDON FECIT was cast into it when it was made, and THE BURGH OF BANFF 1767 was later incised into the metal. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
