Scope and Content Possible henge monument at Ascoile, Sutherland, Highland This possible henge comprises a mound which is surrounded by a broad ditch and then a bank. The mound has been disturbed, and some large stones are visible. The entrance to the henge no longer survives and was probably destroyed when the road was built. This is a view of the henge from the air. Its ditch can be seen as a dark-green semi-circle beside the road. The steep slope lies above the road and is covered in bracken. This possible henge is situated on an old river terrace at the foot of a steep slope. The northern half of the henge has been destroyed by a public road. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
