Scope and Content Fortlet at Kinneil, West Lothian This Roman fortlet is at Kinneil. It was one of the many fortlets built along the Antonine Wall. The Wall itself runs along just to the N of the fortlet. This is an aerial view of the site. The outline of the fortlet can be seen in the centre of the image. It consisted of a 3 m wide rampart with possibly two ditches protecting the E, S and W sides. The Wall itself protected the N side. The site has been excavated. The positions of cobbled roads and internal buildings have been located. A pit in the NW corner of the fortlet contained some well preserved shoes and wood. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
