Scope and Content A copy (translation?) of a formal letter to Petrie from C C Rafn, on the subject of the Maes Howe inscriptions. Undated. 3. 10 March 1863. Received Petrie's lecture to the Kirkwall Literary & Scientific Soc. Will send a vol of 'Annals of Northern Archaeology' with articles about Shetland language. Refers to David Balfour's book on Orkney. Requests photographs of both Petrie and Balfour. 255mm x 206mm. 4. 7 July 1864. Hopes to receive copy of Balfour's book for the Society and proposes to put Balfour up for election as Fellow. 255mm x 206mm.
